Since 1989 Health and safety at work makes it mandatory for all electric appliances to be tested at least once a year. Appliances include anything with a plug on basically eg Power tools, hoovers, microwaves, computers, electrically operated tills etc in fact every electrical appliance in the work place be it a restaurant, hair dresser, garage, or even an office. On completion of a piece of equipment being tested it is given either a pass certificate label or a fail label which would make that particular appliance to be taken out of use until either repaired or replaced.
